Kiwanis worked hard to organize, oversee and produce the parade The Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks is proud to present this year's Conejo Valley Days Parade. Many people helped organize and present the parade, more than could be mentioned here. The following, however, deserve special recognition: David Biedebach, DC, coordinated and directed the entire team. Don Hegarty, president of the Kiwanis Club, and John Prescott of the city of Thousand Oaks were vitally important because of their experience in organizing previous parades and their problemsolving skills. Joanna Smith of the city of Thousand Oaks took applications, answered questions and kept Biedebach and Hegarty informed with phone calls, faxes and e-mails. Tom Pizza of the city of T.O. provided aerial maps. With Prescott, Pizza worked as a liaison to make sure every step complied with city laws and expectations. Senior Dep. Rick Godfrey of the Ventura County Sheriff 's Department provided a great deal of help and guidance as always regarding route changes and traffic. Dave Klein and his committee led the promotional effort. The committee included Bob Engler, Michelle Miller, Sergio Sepe and Nick Cigan. Ken Walker, the offsite chairman for CVD, helped with public relations and sponsors. He was another liaison for the Kiwanis, Conejo Valley Days and the city. Terry McCallum worked with the school bands and The Lakes shopping center. McCallum also coordinated efforts to get golf carts and bleachers. Ted Driscoll, Mel Ashcraft, Jim Stephenson, Ed Troupe and Haze Arnold were also important in overseeing the parade, by sharing their experiences regarding what works and what doesn't. The Kiwanis would also like to thank vehicle dealers in the Auto Mall, which couldn't open their service departments or showrooms until the parade was finished. Their community spirit deserves the gratitude of every parade participant and spectator. And the Key Clubs of local high schools were expected to have diligently worked on the day of the parade in distributing this program. |
