Handicapped parking laws are sometimes ignored

      Even though it's generally believed handicapped parking spaces are reserved for those who have a blue handicapped placard or special license plate from the California Department of Motor Vehicles, it seems some unusual vehicles are allowed to park in those spaces.

T.O. man charged with elder abuse
      Samuel Kaller, 48, of Thousand Oaks was recently charged with felony elder abuse and resisting arrest. According to police, Kaller verbally and physically abused his 82-year-old mother in a grocery store. Witnesses and shoppers reported the incident to police.
