Showdown with Simi looms for TOHS softball team

Two of the state's top-ranked softball teams will do battle today as the Simi Valley High Pioneers (22-0, 9-0 in the Marmonte League) host the Thousand Oaks Lancers (16-3, 8-1) at 3 p.m. at Rancho Santa Susana Community Park in Simi.

In the latest state softball poll released by CalHiSports.com, Simi Valley was ranked fourth and Thousand Oaks was 11th.

The Pioneers have defeated TOHS twice this season, once in the Best of the West tournament and again in league play.

With only a handful of Marmonte games remaining, today's contest should go a long way toward determining the league champion.

Simi Valley's 22 consecutive wins to start the season is a new Ventura County record.
