Critic owes a debt of gratitude to George W. Bush

Again I feel I must correct the inaccuracies of Ms. Aschenbrenner in her April 10 letter.

The "what bugs us" editorial piece you referred to was almost a year ago, hardly recent as you mentioned.

Hillary Clinton is not the first woman to "run for this prestigious office." She isn't even the second or third.

I hope you don't teach history.

If more money were the solution to our school problems, it would have worked by now.

The generous people of this state pay plenty in taxes and bonds with a general state budget of more than $100 billion.

Please consider an irresponsible state Legislature, a topheavy school system desperately needing reform and the teachers union, which won't make changes for fear of losing their power- - all this at the cost of teachers, students and society, but then you might have to examine who runs them.

Regarding this administration, your clichés are far from being "completely free of complaints and negativity," as you promised in your letter.

Finally, despite the opposition's rhetoric, Congress has gone along with the president on most major issues, including the war and extra wartime powers that every wartime president has sought. He hasn't changed his positions at all, even with the Democratic control of Congress, so one can only conclude that by your own admission, your fears of a "big brother right-wing run church state" were unfounded all along.

Perhaps you owe him an apology and a thanks for helping protect our country.
