Church trains volunteers to help children survive conditions after a disaster

The Church of the Brethren will hold a Level 1 Children's Disaster Services training workshop from 5 p.m. Sat., April 19 to 8 p.m. Sun., April 20 at Pacific Union Conference Office, 2686 Townsgate Road, Westlake Village.

The 27-hour workshop will train volunteers on the needs of children following a disaster, learning skills for effective interaction with children and a simulated disaster aftermath.

Volunteers must care about and enjoy working with children, be 18 years or older, be in good physical and mental health, be a team player and work well under stress and adverse conditions. Registration is $55 and it includes the curriculum and meals.
