New West Symphony receives $25,000

New West Symphony has received a $25,000 grant from the Alliance for the Arts, the official fundraising arm of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

The grant helps cover theater costs for the orchestra's performances in the Kavli Theatre during the 2007-'08 season. New West Symphony is the resident orchestra of the Civic Arts Plaza.

The symphony has also received funding of $5,000 from the Martin V. and Martha K. Smith Foundation in support of the New West's Symphonic Adventures program for youth in the Oxnard area.

The New West Symphony presents an annual season of classical symphonic concerts at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, the Countrywide Performing Arts Center and Barnum Hall in Santa Monica. The orchestra is led by music director Boris Brott of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
