Scandinavian Fest headed for CLU

The Scandinavian Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat., April 19 and Sun., April 20 at California Lutheran University, 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks.

The event will feature food, entertainment and demonstrations highlighting the Nordic cultures of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

Children can get a Scandinavian "passport" and travel to craft booths representing each country to earn stamps. Crafts will be paper cutting, friendship bracelets, paper volcanoes, carding wool and horse puppets. Other activities include making flower wreaths, wooden butter knives and lace.

The Children's Theater in Kingsmen Park will feature "The Three Billy Goats Gruff," and a soccer clinic for children will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Other highlights will be the ancient Viking game Kubb, a trivia game and pentathlon, a Viking encampment, Maypole, music and dancing, a car show, and food. A Nordic church service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 6 to 18. Children under six and CLU students will be admitted for free.
