Kiwanis select T.O. man as trustee

Irish John Gore
Irish John Gore, 71, a 27 year member of the Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks, has just been elected to a new office for the Cal-Nev-Ha District of Kiwanis International, which includes the states of California, Nevada and Hawaii.

Gore won an election in Lompoc to become the first district trustee for Region 10, an area than covers Westlake Village to Paso Robles.

Gore, a past lieutenant governor for Division 42- Ventura County- competed in a close race with Martin Basti, current lieutenant governor of Division 24 (Gold Coast); and Bruno Bornino, past lieutenant governor for Division 9 (Lompoc/Santa Maria).

In an eventual runoff between Gore and Basti, Gore was the victor, 28 votes to 22.

Representing the Thousand Oaks club in the election, held at Lompoc Parks and Recreation headquarters, were President Don Hegarty and Immediate Past President Sergio Sepe. The Conejo Valley Noon Kiwanis Club was represented by President Ken Walker and Immediate Past President Duane Hollinger.

Gore was intoduced as a Division 42 candidate for the trustee office by past president of the CalNev-Ha Foundation, Tony Antonelli, a member of the Thousand Oaks club.

Gore's office as trustee begins Oct. 1 and runs for three years.
