Elementary and middle school students to be introduced to musical instruments

The instrumental music program at Los Cerritos Middle School will sponsor a "music petting zoo" from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tues., April 1 at the school, 2100 Avenida de Las Flores, Thousand Oaks.

It's designed to introduce elementary and middle school students to the world of musical instruments by allowing them to handle and test a variety of wind and string instruments.

The program is intended for third through seventh graders and will be co-sponsored by a number of local music stores.

The merchants will supply the instruments, information on buying or renting instruments and brochures on how young musicians can begin learning to play, including information on lessons and private teachers.
