Conejo Valley Audubon lists next month's birding agenda

The Conejo Valley Audubon Society has announced its activities calendar for April.

•Tom Halprin will lead a group through Sisar Canyon Sat., April 5. Meet at Los Posas park-and-ride at 7:30 a.m. to carpool or at the Summit Cafe at 8:30 a.m.

•A meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mon., April 7 at the Western Foundation for Vertebrate Zoology in Camarillo. The topic of the meeting will be "But It Doesn't Look Like the One in the Book." Kimball Garrett will discuss why the "match the picture in the field guide" approach to bird identification doesn't work well.

•A trip to Sepulveda Refuge will take place 8 a.m. Sun., April 13. The group will look for water birds, sparrows, nesting hummingbirds and possible red bishop shorebirds. The group will meet at Rancho park-and-ride. For more information, call Dee Lyon at (805) 499-2165.

•Roger Swenson will lead a group through the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden, meeting at the Las Posas park-and-ride at 7:30 to carpool or at the garden at 8 a.m. Sat., April 19.
