Gardens of the World to host history programs

For the fifth consecutive year, the Gardens of the World will host a series of programs on California history, featuring Father Serra, for fourthgrade students and their teachers.

Between November and April 2009, performer Bruce Buonauro will portray Father Serra in 22 presentations. Serra is credited with helping settle California and building nine missions from San Diego to Sonoma in the late 1700s.

There is no charge for the programs, but reservations are taken on a first come, first served basis. Schools provide their own transportation. Classes may also bring picnic lunches and have docent-led tours of the gardens during the visit.
