      Heather Stanley, a sophomore at Newbury Park High School, was one of 428 students from 31 countries and 31 U.S. states chosen to participate in the Honeywell Scholars @ Presidential Classroom program March 2 through March 8 in Washington, D.C.

La Reina High to represent county in Mock Trial state final
      La Reina High School in Thousand Oaks won the Ventura County Schools Federal Credit Union Mock Trial competition held on Feb. 28 at the Ventura County Hall of Justice. The school will represent Ventura County at the state finals in Riverside March 28 through 30.

      Weathersfield Elementary School in Thousand Oaks recently received a $2,000 Teach Award from Best Buy Co. Inc. For the past 10 years kindergarten teacher Lynn Quick has been developing a technologybased phonics program to teach the primary students at Weathersfield how to read.
