Elks honor local high school students

Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge No. 2477 recently announced the scholarship winners for this year.

The local lodge, the California/Hawaii Elks Association and the West Central Coast District all contributed to the awards.

The local winners, their schools and their total scholarship amounts are as follows:

Sidney Primas, Westlake High School, $750; Justin Manduke, Agoura High School, $1,400; Edward Kaiping, Newbury Park High School, $1,300; Angela Tong, Thousand Oaks High School, $1,150; and Sabina Samedi, Westlake High School, $2,100.

Students who applied and were not named will be presented $100 for their efforts.

The local lodge raised funds for the scholarship through raffles, recycling, donations from individual members and a $1,000 contribution from El Konejo Kamper Klub.
