Thousand Oaks will be flying high

BILL SPARKES/Acorn Newspapers OUR CITY'S CJ130- U.S. Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Thousand Oaks), left, Col. Marilyn Rios, T.O. Mayor Jacqui Irwin, Maj. Gen. William Wade and Maj. Gen. Dennis Lucas celebrate an airplane named for Thousand Oaks. The 146th Airlift Wing of the California Air National Guard dedicated each of its new J-model C-130s to cities in Ventura County. The name of each city is displayed above the crew entrance door. "These communities have been incredibly supportive of our troops and their families over the years, and this is our way of thanking them," said Rios. The ceremony took place last Saturday at the Channel Islands ANG Station, adjacent to Point Mugu Naval Air Station.
