Registration open for annual Senior Concerns Meals on Wheels run

Registration is open for runners, walkers and strollers to sign up and participate in Senior Concerns' 15th annual Love Run to benefit Meals on Wheels.

The greater Conejo Valley event is set for Sun., June 1 in the parking lot next to Brent's Deli, 2801 Townsgate Road in Westlake Village.

The USA Track and Fieldcertified 5k run will start at 8 a.m., followed by a 10k run at 8:50 a.m. Both runs are timed.

A one-mile fun walk/run at 9 a.m. will not be timed but will offer individual entrants, families and children an opportunity to participate.

In addition to individual registrants, groups of family, coworkers, neighbors and friends may form teams of runners. Awards will be given to the teams that raise the most money and have the most team members.

Last year, participants helped net $36,000 toward the cost of providing meals to homebound and dependent seniors in Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park who could not shop or cook for themselves.

This year's event will feature medals and awards, a post-race party, free refreshments and vendor display tables.

Participants competing in the races will receive mile and final timings, numbered bibs and awards for the top three men and women finishers in 14 different age brackets. All registered participants will receive an event Tshirt.

Registration is $25 in advance and $30 on race day.

For online registration, go to www.seniorconcerns.org. Registration will also be accepted starting at 7 a.m. at the race site.
