Bereavement support for young adults

Hospice of the Conejo will offer bereavement support meetings for people ages 18 to 30 beginning Wed., April 9 in the Human Resources Building, 80 E. Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks.

Meetings will be facilitated by Connie Hickman, a certified family therapist.

Hickman has worked in the public sector for 25 years and is the human resources director for the city of Thousand Oaks. She has facilitated women's and couples' groups, led relationship workshops and marriage retreats, and worked with teens and young adults in the Juvenile Diversion Program at the Glendale Police Department.

Grief support programs help individuals to explore and express feelings, understand the grief process and develop coping skills, increase independence and autonomy, create new social support systems, and rediscover a sense of hope.
