TOHS girls to face Moorpark for Division II championship With a 1-0 win at Walnut High Tuesday, the Thousand Oaks girls' soccer team has advanced to the CIF-Southern Section Division II finals. The finals appearance is the first in program history, TOHS head coach Geoff Raives said. The Lancers will face Marmonte League rival Moorpark High in the finale Saturday at 8 p.m. at Downey High. Although Thousand Oaks defeated Moorpark twice during the regular season, Raives said it means very little now. "This is bigger than league, and I don't think anyone has an advantage going into this third game," Raives said. "Yes, we beat them twice, and we know a lot about their team from the regular season. However, they've obviously made some adjustments, and they're a different team since the playoffs started. They're very talented, fast and well-coached." Raives said the team will have to play more consistently to win the title. "We have to play well for the entire 80 minutes," Raives said. "If we let up for just five minutes, then we're giving them a huge opportunity." |
