Here's a rewrite of Joe Walsh's classic song, "Life's Been Good":
'None Looks Good To Me So Far'
Barack Obama, they say he's quite nice And in Chicago they'll vote for him twice The most devoted stump for Ron Paul It's either him or they won't vote at all They all are crazy but they've got lots of guts I'm just looking for clues as to which one ain't nuts

Hypocrisy in business is behind the traffic initiative
The ingenuity of the Do-it Center's owner in attempting to keep his home improvement monopoly here on the east side of Thousand Oaks almost makes me chuckle. He obviously felt that he didn't have a compliant City Council that would buy his "small businessman" story, nor did he feel h...

Traffic initiative is about competition in the business world, not gridlock
I thought we had a country where competition was the byword. Unless, of course, we (experience the outrageous tactics) of Mr. DeFranco and Mr. Sedighi, who actually represent Lumber City, the former Do-it Center.

Voters deserve to be heard on major projects
Why are four of the Thousand Oaks City Council members afraid to give voters the right to decide on big development projects? They say that we, the voters, don't want to be "bothered" with voting on projects over 100,000 square feet that will effect traffic congestion, but I say "Y...

New development is overrated if tax revenue decides it
I read Nancy Needham's article in the Feb. 7 issue of the Thousand Oaks Acorn with interest. It seems that our city government is constantly pushing for a bigger tax base--"more revenue, more revenue"--it sounds like a broken record.

School closure recommendations need explanation
I'm looking for clarification on the school closure process. I have attended several meetings where the primary and secondary criteria for closing schools was discussed. The meetings were very informative, and I found the criteria sound and reasonable.

School district may have a chink in its armor
The papers say that enrollment in Conejo Valley Unified School District is down because of changing demographics due to high home prices.

Too much of Lang Ranch Park is for T.O. Little League
As a member of the Lang Ranch Focus Group and as a concerned neighbor of the Lang Ranch Community Park, I'd like to respond to comments that have been expressed on these pages and in public meetings. The majority of the proposed Lang Ranch Park is to be dedicated solely as the ho...

Confused about improvements for 101/23 freeways
I've been watching the work being done on the 23 and 101 freeways, and I'm very confused. On the 101, temporary barriers are being placed close to the center divider and the guard rails are being removed. Once removed, a cement median will be constructed.

Electoral College, not voters, decide who's president
In a recent T.O. Acorn editorial, "Please register and vote in the Feb. 5 primary election," it was written that "Americans have died in service to our country to defend your right to vote." Please note that the United States Constitution does not grant any right to vote for the presi...
