Special programs coming to St. Paschal Baylon

International retreat leader and musician Sam Kauffman will give a dramatic musical presentation titled "Joanna: A Woman at the Cross" from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 21 at St. Paschal Baylon parish hall, 155 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.

Joanna, who was present at both Jesus' passion and resurrection, was the wife of King Herod's steward. The performance showcases Kauffman's gifts as a storyteller, songwriter and musician.

Former Hollywood executive and award winning author Gerry Straub presents a visual reflection on the plight of the poor in the U.S. and around the world in "The Power of Film- When Did I See You Hungry?" from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Mon., Feb 25 also in the parish hall.

Straub shares his personal journey and decision to start the San Damiano Foundation that uses the power of film to help the weak and the poor.

Both courses are part of the adult continuing education program at The University.
