Senior Concerns elects new board Ann Eklund and Jeff Pearl of Thousand Oaks and Paul Shane of Westlake Village have been elected to the board of directors of Senior Concerns, a nonprofit service agency that provides quality-of-life services for frail and special needs seniors and their caregiver families in Ventura and western Los Angeles counties. Eklund is a retired director of elementary education for the Las Virgenes Unified School District. Pearl is assistant area medical director for Kaiser Permanente in Thousand Oaks. Shane is president of the Paul B. Shane CPA accounting firm in Westlake Village. Each new director will serve an initial term of three years. Eklund will serve on the board's Administrative and Ultimate Dining Experience committees, Pearl on the Long Range Planning committee, and Shane on the Ultimate Dining Experience committee. Senior Concerns board chair Linda St. Clair said that the elections reflect the recognition by the area's socially committed citizens that the elderly population is growing at an increasing rate and benefits greatly from a variety of services that help to keep older people with their families and out of institutionalized care as long as possible.
