City of T.O. gets three new fire trucks

      Look for bigger numbers and brighter lights on three new fire trucks in Thousand Oaks. According to Division Chief Mike La Plant, the large numbers allow fire captains at a fire to see the trucks from about 500 feet away, so their assignments can be radioed to them earlier.

Man tells the story of a mule named Minnie Poo

      Minnie Poo was a coal black mule with "white anklets." She was about the size of a Shetland pony. I bought her from the neighbor next door to Jungleland in Thousand Oaks in the late 1960s. Jungleland was closing out but still had a small herd of camels and, I think, one elephant.
