Marder makes verbal to Oregon

Newbury Park High junior second baseman Jack Marder has made a verbal commitment to play baseball at the University of Oregon when he graduates from NPHS.

Marder, who has been with the Panther varsity team since he was a freshman, played in 27 games a year ago, hitting .371 with 22 RBI and 26 runs scored. He had as many walks (12) as strikeouts (12), while posting a .446 on-base percentage.

Marder made only four errors a year ago.
