New West Symphony to present Beethoven piece

Young musicians Andrew Janss, Lindsay Deutsch and Sean Chen return home to perform Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the New West Symphony at 8 p.m. Fri., Feb. 15 at the Oxnard Performing Art Center and Sat., Feb. 16 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

Janss will play cello, Deutsch will play violin and Chen will be the pianist for the Triple Concerto, which is Beethoven's only concerto written for more than one solo instrument.

Deutsch was invited to perform the theme from "Schindler's List" for John Williams at a gala dinner in his honor. Her movie credits include playing the solo violin sound track for the 2006 movie, "The Good Shepherd" starring Robert De Niro. She also connects children to classical music with an active outreach program.

Janss was named a Discovery Artist with the New West Symphony in 2000. He travels to perform as a soloist and also as a member of the Escher String Quartet.

Chen was named a Discovery Artist in 2002 and a Presidential Scholar in the Arts in 2006 by the U.S. Department of Education where he met President Bush at the White House and was featured in a performance at the Kennedy Center.
