Futurist will speak at Cal Lutheran in T.O.
Futurist Joel Kotkin will speak at UC Santa Barbara Economic Forecast Project's Ventura County Economic Outlook 2008 at 2 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 21 at the Lundring Events Center in the Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center at California Lutheran University, 40 Olsen Road in Thousand Oaks.

Kotkin has written several books, including "The City: A Global History" and "Tribes: How Race, Religion and Identity Determine Success in the New Global Economy," and he has won a Golden Mike award as the business trends analyst for KTTV/Fox Television.

He will discuss "Thousand Oaks: A Prototype Community?"

Other presentations will include Sacramento Bee columnist Dan Walters on "Another Year and Three More Elections," and real estate economist Kirk Lesh on "Real Estate Outlook for 2008."

Registration is $125 at the door. The cost includes the seminar and a copy of "2008 Ventura County Economic Outlook." It also includes Session II of the seminar, which has a different guest speaker, Fri., Feb. 22 in Oxnard.
