Amgen Tour of California set

The 2008 Amgen Tour of California, a Tour de France style road race, will take place Feb. 17 to 24 along a 650-mile course from Palo AltoStanford University to Pasadena.

The 2007 race drew more than 1.6 million spectators, setting records in attendance for a single sporting event in California as well as any cycling event held in the United States.

The race will visit 12 host cities for official stage starts and finishes, including San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Santa Clarita.

For the first time the finish line is in Pasadena. Family activities will take place at the Rose Bowl 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sun., Feb. 24.
