Residents want to know: What happens next?

When the City Council meets on Tues., Jan. 22, the mobile home park issue will be on the agenda. Councilmember Andy Fox said the council would probably vote to change the General Plan designation to residential and zone it high-density. The land would keep its trailer park designation for now, he said.

Changing the zoning to high density will also help the city meet the state's requirements for adding about 1,900 additional housing units.

On Dec. 18, the council voted unanimously for the staff to look into solutions for the Conejo Mobile Home Park, such as equity sharing, the city purchasing the property with redevelopment money, the city assisting in negotiations between owners and residents and other detailed and creative options.

The council appointed Fox to take the lead in negotiating with the owner, residents and city representatives.

The council is also expected to revisit the issue in regard to Conejo Mobile Home Park's neighbor, the Elms Plaza Mobile Home Park, 1262 Newbury Road, at next week's meeting.

A decision on the fate of two other mobile home parks- the Crestview at 53 N. Conejo School Road and Twin Palms at 198 Skyline Drive- was also delayed during the Dec. 18 meeting.

Those who would like to be included in the mobile home park discussion may call Linda Pappas Díaz at (805) 449-2121 or e-mail lindappd@toaks.org.
