Elvis to help WHS band to reach Carnegie Hall

The Westlake High School band will sponsor a performance by a well-known Elvis tribute artist at 7:30 p.m. Sat., Jan. 19 at the Thousand Oaks High School Performing Arts Center at 2323 N. Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks.

The show will feature Raymond Michael, who has performed as Elvis in a variety of local and national venues, including Knott's Berry Farm and a number of Six Flags parks.

He was selected by Dick Clark as one of the best Elvis tribute acts in the world. When not performing, Michael teaches chorus and musical performance at Moorpark High School.

Michael will be backed by a number of local music educators with Moorpark High School band director Bob Hackett on saxophone, Westlake High School assistant director Mike Gangemi on trumpet, and Pasadena City College and former Westlake High School band director Kyle Luck on drums.

The show will help the Westlake High School Band raise funds for their upcoming trip to New York, where they will perform at Carnegie Hall.

Tickets to the show cost $25 and can be purchased from any Westlake High School band member or at the door.
