New program helps cancer patients entering post-treatment care

Westlake Village is among 10 cities across the U.S. that will participate in a new program to help cancer survivors make the transition from active treatment to posttreatment care. Live Well: Life Beyond Cancer will meet at the Wellness Community from 6 to 8 p.m. Mon., Jan. 14 at 530 Hampshire Road.

Six sessions once a week will include talks with physicians, nutritionists and fitness experts. They'll discuss exercise and special nutrition after treatment, the need for continued emotional and social support, and medical effects of cancer treatment and long-term medical management.

Wellness Community is an international organization dedicated to providing support and education to people with cancer and their loved ones.
