Genealogist discusses U.S. pensions research

The Conejo Valley Genealogical Society will meet from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. Tues., Jan. 15 at the Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road in Thousand Oaks.

The speaker will be Cari Thomas, who will discuss doing research at the U.S. Pensions bureau. In a PowerPoint presentation, Thomas will share her research into an uncommon occurrence in her family's history.

Thomas is secretary of Tent 22 of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861 to 1865 and an 11-year member of the Santa Barbara Genealogical Society.

The meeting is open to the public. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.
