Volunteers offer income tax assistance for seniors

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, will provide free income tax assistance 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fridays Jan. 31 through April 11 at Goebel Senior Adult Center, 1385 E. Janss Road in Thousand Oaks.

The program is for seniors 60 years of age or older and people with an income of $40,000 or less.

Participants should bring photo identification, Social Security cards, Social Security benefits statement, wage and earning statements, interest and dividend statements from banks, sale of stock or mutual funds, a copy of last year's federal and state returns, bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit and other relevant information about income and expenses.

No appointments will be taken as assistance is given first come, first served.
