'Common Threads' art exhibit coming to T.O.

The Arts Council of the Conejo Valley will present "Common Threads" from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from Fri., Jan. 9 to Sun., March 22 in the Galleria at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. An artists' reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sat., Jan. 10.

The show's curators are Janet Amiri and Connie Tunick. Featured in the exhibit is a John Nava jacquard tapestry, "Study for W.M.D.," which is on loan from the Museum of Ventura County. The tapestry was adapted from a painting by the artist's son.

Other pieces in the exhibit are fiber arts including felting, quilting, silk paintings, tapestries, fiber and encaustic paintings, and weavings.

Featured artists are Betty Bingham, Jerry Ferguson, Glorianne Garza, Porfirio Gutierrez, Rebecca Janes, Susan Lasch Krevitt, Jenn Lebowitz, Mimi Lieberman, Karen Payton and Gayle Simpson.
