For the next two weeks
Since both Christmas and New Year's Day fall on Thursdays, Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park customers of Newbury Disposal who normally have their trash and recycling or green waste collected Thursday and Friday will have them collected one day later those weeks.
Service will remain the same for customers who have their trash and recyclables or green waste collected on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
The regular collection schedule will return the week of Jan. 4.
As a special holiday feature, residents may put out twice the amount of trash at no extra charge during the two weeks following Christmas. Make sure the trash is in bags. Extra recyclables will also be collected. All boxes must be flattened.
Newbury Disposal will also collect Christmas trees to be recycled. Customers should remove ornaments, hooks, lights, tinsel, bows, nails and tree stand, cut the tree into sections no more than four feet long and place it in the yard waste barrel on their scheduled pickup day. Flocked trees cannot be recycled.
