TOT helps holiday shoppers

Effective last Saturday, Thousand Oaks Transit (TOT) began its "Holiday Shopper Shuttle" service. The seasonal service will provide access to shopping locations around Thousand Oaks, including The Oaks, Janss Marketplace and Westlake Promenade.

Keeping in the spirit of the holidays, TOT drivers will be wearing Santa hats. The service features extended hours Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 20 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"Major retailers have extended business hours during the holiday season, translating to additional transportation demand from workers and shoppers alike," said public works director Mark Watkins.

"By providing additional transportation, we hope to alleviate some of the stress associated with traveling and parking during the holiday season and stimulate our city's economy by keeping tax dollars local," Watkins said.

TOT operates four fixedroutes five days a week throughout Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Newbury Park.
