Skilled on offense, Lancers say defense is top priority
Boys' basketball squad can score points in bunches
      The boys' basketball team at Thousand Oaks High expects to be in the hunt for a Marmonte League title this season. How the Lancers go about achieving that goal, however, will be a little different. In the past, TOHS has won with defense.

Montana aims for a bounce-back performance
     JANN HENDRY/Acorn Newspapers NORTHBOUND—Although Oaks Christian prevailed, 21-0, during last weekend's CIF-Southern Section Northwest Division quarterfinal game against Pioneer Valley, junior quarterback Nick Montana struggled while completing only 11-of-23 passes for 149 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. Montana and the high-powered OCHS offense will welcome the return of junior running back Malcolm Jones this week after Jones missed three games due to a shoulder injury. The Lions (12-0) play at Morro Bay (8-4) Friday at 7 p.m. in the semifinal round.

Regents cap amazing cross country season with state title
Girls bring back Division IV crown from Fresno
      All season long, the La Reina High cross country team waited for others to catch up. Last Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno, La Reina capped off a stellar season by winning the CIF Division IV state championship. The state title was the first in program history.

Strikers score first-place finish on pitch
     CVU IS NO.1—The Conejo Valley United Strikers girls' U-15 soccer team finished first in the Coast Soccer League Silver North Division. The Strikers had a 12-1-1 record in league play and outscored their opponents 30-7. Team members include Kat Chen, Nicole Couture, Jordon Engel, Jessica Fernandez, Amanda Galvez, Selina Garcia, Nicki Ghazarian, Laura Jackson, Ashley Letson, Kasey Magallanes, Christine Martinez, Bricela Meza, Paty Meza, Nicole Mogg, Lindsey O'Tousa, Noam Peleg, Courtney Reed and Rochelle Silverman. The team is coached by Scott Engel and assisted by Manny Galvez and Ray Mogg.

Youth football Super Bowl games being played Saturday at Royal
      The Gold Coast Youth Football League will play its Super Bowl IV and Championship Division games Saturday at Royal High in Simi Valley. Throughout the day and night there will be raffles, 50/50 drawings, food and drinks, and the announcement of the league's scholastic achievement recipients.

Soccer team nets division championship
     WE'RE NO. 1—The Real SoCal girls' U-11 Black team won first place in the Coast Soccer League Silver North Division.       The Newbury Park High Wrestling Booster Club will host its 27th annual Wrestling Invitational on Saturday at NPHS. This event serves as the program's biggest fundraiser of the year.
