Popular preschool will fold its tent despite appeals to the T.O. City Council
      Parents and kids recently lined up to urge the City Council to save $190,000 and keep a partnership with a successful, private, nationally accredited child care operator. They came away disappointed.

      The First Choice Boutique of Oak Park will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tues., Dec. 9 at the Oak Park Community Center, 5801 Conifer St., Oak Park. Each vendor will donate a percentage of their sales to the school organization of the buyer's choice.

Signature Project comes to Banyan
     JANN HENDRY/Acorn Newspapers 'WHICH ONE'S MINE?'—Banyan Elementary School second-grader Everett Strom, 8, uses a picture card to show where he signed his name to a square of Patrick Dunning's Signature Project during a recent presentation at Banyan Elementary School in Newbury Park. Once completed, the Signature Project mural will consist of more than 1 million signatures and cover an area 76 feet by 36 feet. It promotes, among other things, art, music and the diversity of worldwide cultures.

      NEW V.P . — Matthew Ward has been promoted to vice president for enrollment management at California Lutheran University. Ward joined CLU in 2006 as dean of undergraduate enrollment and had 10 years of similar experience with the University of Miami and the University of Wyoming.
