Simi Community Christmas event coming in December
The Simi Community Christmas event, featuring the international créche exhibit and musical performances, will take place on Dec. 5, 6, 7 and 9 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sinaloa Stake Center, 480 Sinaloa Road, Simi Valley.
Admission and parking are free each night, and the public is welcome to attend.
Various musical groups will perform for 30 minutes every night.
The schedule for musical performances is 5 to 9 p.m. Fri., Dec. 5; 4 to 9 p.m. Sat., Dec. 6; 5 to 9 p.m. Sun., Dec. 7; and 5 to 9 p.m. Tues., Dec. 9.
The créche exhibit will be open for group tours from 1 to 5 p.m. Sat., Dec. 6. Call ahead for arrangements. The display will be open for viewing during the musical performances.
The Simi Stake Choir will present a full Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Sat., Dec. 6, and the 100-voice Channelaire Ladies Barbershop Chorus will highlight closing night.
Other performers include classical and contemporary soloists, instrumentalists, school choirs, instrumental ensembles, harpists, jazz performers, Hillside Middle School Chorale Ensemble, Sinaloa Middle School Band, Royal High School Jazz Choir, Flute Loops Flute Choir, Bell Canto Ringers and others.
The créche exhibit has grown during the years in both number and variety.
The nativity scenes are created from ceramic, porcelain, wood, chocolate, wood shavings, cookies, glass, rice, origami, bark and other materials.
The event also includes a live nativity performing every night.
