Prudential California Realty 23rd annual Golf Classic

In midAugust, Prudential California Realty held its 23rd annual Golf Classic at the Moorpark Country Club. "Once again, we have successfully achieved a fantastic golf tournament," said owner/Broker Bob Majorino.

Volunteers spent hours to raise the tournament proceeds, awarding scholarships to local graduating seniors who are recognized for their leadership and community involvement.

Each year, sponsorship is of the greatest assistance in the fundraising process, from monetary donations and from items given by local businesses and individuals to assemble the baskets that were up for silent auction, and prizes for a raffle. Additional funds came from the golfers themselves, who enjoy a day on the green through a golf package with contests and prizes.

The success of the tournament will enable Prudential California Realty to increase the scholarship award from $1,500 per winner to $2,000 toward their first year in college. In 2009, there will be nine winners benefiting from the proceeds of this year's tournament. Students fill out applications, including an extensive Activities Resume, and are asked to state what they intend to do to continue the spirit of the community in the future. They are also asked to describe what sets them apart from their classmates.

"We believe that supporting our local schools reaffirms our strong commitment to our local community," said Majorino. "This is why our 2009 24th Prudential Golf Classic will again be dedicated to our local high schools, by awarding scholarships to graduating seniors."

This year, the award winners came from Westlake, Oak Park, Newbury Park, Moorpark, Adolfo Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Fillmore, Agoura, and Oxnard high schools.
