High school students to present a Bill Hearing Night

High school students in the YMCA Youth and Government program will present a Bill Hearing Night from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight, Thurs., Nov. 20, at Westlake Village City Hall, 31200 Oak Crest Drive, Westlake Village.

Students will present legislative bills before a panel of judges made up of city council and YMCA board members.

The panel will select the bills based on evidence of research, debatability, feasibility, relevance and creativity.

Groups of four to six teens will present their bill proposals and will try to persuade the panel that their bills should be selected to present at the Model Legislature and Court Conference in Sacramento next year. The presentations are timed and must follow strict procedures.

One-hundred-twenty teens will participate in the evening.
