Lakes ice rink opens

The only outdoor ice rink in Ventura County is now open aThe Lakes shopping center, 2200 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks, next to the Civic Arts Plaza. One-hour skate sessions starat 11:30 a.m. and end at 8:30 p.mweekdays and 10 p.m. weekendsFrom Dec. 8 through Jan. 4the rink will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The last session on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, wilbe at 7 p.m. The first session on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, will be 1 p.m.

Admission to the ice rink is $8. Skate rentals are $3 for figure skates and $4 for hockey skates.

Skaters will receive a voucher for a free 5by7inch professional-quality photo with Santa Claus, taken at The Promenade at Westlake, when two ice rink admission tickets are purchasedThe center will host live music on weekends during the season.
