     HAVING FUN WHILE WINNING—The Conejo Valley Unified Strikers GU-15 team is all smiles after their first-place finish in the Coast Soccer League Silver North Division. Team members are Kat Chen, Nicole Couture, Jordon Engel, Jessica Fernandez, Amanda Galvez, Selina Garcia, Nicki Ghazarian, Laura Jackson, Ashley Letson, Kasey Magallanes, Christine Martinez, Bricela Meza, Paty Meza, Nicole Mogg, Lindsey O'Tousa, Noam Peleg, Courtney Reed and Rochelle Silverman. Players hail from Conejo Valley, Simi Valley and Moorpark.

      Upon entering Newbury Park High three years ago, Jenny Mallen was faced with a dilemma. Her older brothers, Alex and Blake, had played sports at NPHS, and she wanted to do the same. The problem was, she couldn't decide on which sport to compete in.

Thousand Oaks boys take first at county cross country meet
Marmonte, TVL finals today
      The Ventura County Cross Country Championships were held last Friday at Lake Casitas in Ojai, and no schools ran faster than the Thousand Oaks High boys' squad and the Simi Valley girls' team. The Thousand Oaks boys' finished in first place with 82 points, ahead of Royal, which placed second with 95 points.

Team Double Nickels cashes out
     THESE GUYS ARE MONEY—Double Nickels, an adult softball team with members from Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Simi Valley, Moorpark and Camarillo, won the senior men's 55AAA division at the Las Vegas World Masters Tournament.
