The fourth annual Cultural Harmony Month celebration for the city of Thousand Oaks was held in October. The city celebrated the cultural diversity among its city hall work force.

"Working in a culturally diverse environment presents us with great opportunities for growth and cultural enrichment. Cultural Harmony Month provides an occasion for all of us at the city to celebrate the different experiences, traditions and creative talents of the diverse individuals who work at the city," said City Manager Scott Mitnick.

An International Day celebration for all city staff was held on Oct. 29 in the lobby of the Fred Kavli Theatre. Cultural associations and performing artists entertained. Employees provided an array of homemade appetizers and desserts representing varied cultural backgrounds.

"Cultural Harmony Month provides an occasion to focus on ways in which we can learn from each other and come to a common understanding of ourselves as a multicultural community with shared goals and values," said Connie Hickman, human resources director

Cultural Harmony Month 2008 was sponsored and organized by the city's Employee Human Relations Committee.
