Artist paints gift for city

Local artist Bob Rickards was commissioned in 2007 by the Stagecoach Inn Museum Foundation to complete an oil-on-canvas rendition of Stagecoach Inn in Newbury Park.

At a recent City Council meeting, the foundation made a gift of this work of art to the city of Thousand Oaks.

"However," said Jerry Knotts, the foundation board president, "anybody interested in a giclee print may buy one by contacting the city for information." He added that the giclee proof- - the first copy, used for color match purposes- - is now on display in the Conejo Recreation and Park District headquarters.

The presentation was made to the city after being formally approved and accepted by the Thousand Oaks Arts Commission. The painting was accepted on behalf of the council and the city by Mayor Jacqui Irwin. The painting will probably be displayed somewhere on city property.
