The list of teams with a shot at a TriValley League championship in girls' volleyball just got a little shorter.

Although Oaks Christian went a full five games to get a win against Oak Park High on Oct. 2, the Lions had no trouble disposing of Oak Park on the road Tuesday night. Oaks Christian won the match in three games (2513, 2522 and 25-21).

"Last time we played Oak Park the score was a lot closer than the girls would have liked it," Oaks Christian head coach George Hees said. "Oak Park is a good team, but our girls really wanted to prove how much better they were tonight."

The win put Oaks Christian's record in the TVL at 9-1, while Oak Park fell to 7-3. Each team plays 12 league matches. The Lions' lone loss in TVL play came to La Reina, which is undefeated in league with a 10-0 mark.

"It's a two-team race now," Oak Park head coach Patrick Quinn said. "I believe La Reina is the best team, but Oaks Christian proved they can beat anyone the way they played tonight."

Although it was senior night for Oak Park, Quinn admitted the Eagles came out flat against Oaks Christian.

"We just didn't play defense," Quinn said. "We didn't block like we usually do. We didn't pass like we usually do, and, therefore, our offense wasn't what it usually is."

Oak Park also had trouble containing Lion sophomore outside hitter Tara Robinson. Robinson led OCHS with 16 kills. She also registered 10 digs.

"I was really happy with Robinson's consistency," Hees said. "She played well in all three games. It seems she's peaking this year at just the right time."

Oaks Christian hopes Robinson's stellar play can continue tonight when the Lions host La Reina at 6 p.m. La Reina beat Oaks Christian at home in five games on Oct. 7.

"Getting a win against a tough team like Oak Park really gives us a lot of confidence and momentum going into our match with La Reina," Hees said.

Also playing well for Oaks Christian on Tuesday night were senior libero Brina Clark (27 digs), senior setter Glenna Roberts (39 assists, 13 digs) and sophomore middle blocker Michele Boskovich (nine kills, three blocks).

Oak Park was led by senior Inga McManus (16 digs, eight kills) and senior setter Alexa Micek (22 assists).
