Alliance for the Arts makes donation
      The Alliance for the Arts recently issued theater credits totaling $200,000 to support 29 local nonprofit performing arts groups. The funds will offset the groups' cost of renting the Kavli and Scherr Forum theaters.

Local students compete in artwork
     ART APPRECIATION WITH MOM- Thousand Oaks residents from left, Gabriela Morales and her daughters, Aileen, 5, and Mariela, 11, examine art on display at Glenwood Elementary School. Last week's art show was part of the "Reflections" competition. More than 300 Glenwood students participated and 17 advanced to district competition. Conejo Players to present 'Goodbye Charlie'
      The Conejo Players will present "Goodbye Charlie" at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from Fri., Nov. 14 to Sat., Dec. 13, and 2 p.m. Sun., Nov. 16 and Dec. 7 at the theater, 351 S. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks. The show i sa comedy about womanizer Charlie Sorel, who is killed by a jealous husband and reincarnated as a beautiful woman.

'Defending the Caveman'
      Rob Becker's one-man show "Defending the Caveman" played recently in the Scherr Forum at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, and if the audience reaction is any indication, it's easy to understand why the show has been a smash hit for the past eight years.

Oldies concert comes to T.O.
      Cruisin' Oldies Concerts will present "Those Oldies but Goodies: Shake Rattle and Roll: A '50s and '60s Celebration" at 7:30 p.m. Sat., Nov. 8 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. The show features tributes to Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Haley's Comets, Roy Orbison, The Beatles, The Beach Boys and Motown groups of the era.

Musician bios for Thousand Oaks Philharmonic
      Pianist Daniel Lessler, 17, is a senior at Rio Mesa High School. He plays instruments in the school's jazz band, jazz quartet, winter drumline, marching band, and concert band. He also accompanies both Rio Mesa's and Temple Ner Ami's choirs. He lives in Somis.
