Campaign contributions to T.O. City Council members are listed online
Of the seven City Council candidates, Mayor Jacqui Irwin has raised the most money, and Councilmember Tom Glancy has spent the most, according to their preelection disclosure statements.
"Everybody has filed," said City Clerk Linda Lawrence.
Once filed at the city clerk's office, the papers are scanned and put online on the city's website. The campaign disclosure statements include contributions received from Jan. 1 to Sept. 30 of this year.
Candidates Ramual Rush and Greg Akrey each filed the less detailed Form 470 because they raised less than $500, Lawrence said.
According to her statement, Irwin has raised $68,800 so far. Her contributors included developers, car dealers, homemakers and retirees. Police Capt. Randy Pentis has donated to her campaign, as have school board member Patricia Phelps and Councilmember Dennis Gillette. Simi Valley Councilmember Glen Becerra donated money, too. So did three executives from Boingo Wireless.
Irwin has spent $31,719 on such items as food, signs and fundraising.
Glancy, running for election for the first time, has raised $48,387 so far from individuals including developers, retirees, a restaurant owner, two pest control company employees and auto dealers. Thousand Oaks Boulevard business owners have also contributed to his campaign. Development of the boulevard is an issue that's expected to come before the council during the next term. Many fellow dentists have contributed to Glancy's campaign.
The employment status of six of his contributors is listed as "Don't know." According to Lawrence, the California Fair Political Practices Commission requires candidates to list the occupation or employer or give the money back. Candidates are given 70 days to comply.
The FPPC was created by the 1974 Political Reform Act, a state ballot initiative passed by voters.
Glancy has spent $44,980 on campaign aids such as literature, signs and television advertising.
Al Adam, a planning commissioner, has raised $31,390 so far. His contributors include Councilmember Claudia Bill-de la Peña, Lumber City/Doit Center owner Jesse Ruf from Chatsworth and former Planning Commissioner Janet Wall.
Adam's campaign has spent $28,229 on such items as literature, mailings, signs, TV advertising and fundraising. He recently had an event at Sherwood Country Club with former President Ronald Reagan's son Michael Reagan in attendance.
Holly LaRue is backed by funds that come from Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks, Ventura County Planning Commissioner Nora Aidukas, Bill-de la Peña, Ruf, Wall and others.
So far, she's raised $21,054 and has spent $20,537 on campaigning that includes posters, signs and TV advertising.
Ernest LeGault has raised $2,225 from teachers, music professionals and others associated with education. He's spent $2,356 on literature, mailings and other campaign items.
