JANN HENDRY/Acorn Newspapers IN THE SPOTLIGHT—Limiting Royal High senior quarterback Trevor Shubert will be a top priority for the Westlake defense. Agoura (3-3) at Newbury Park (4-2)

Outlook: Agoura hasn't played well since its victory over Westlake on Oct. 3.

AHS has lost games to Thousand Oaks and, inexplicably, at previously winless Simi Valley last week.

Newbury Park's been a little better of late, but the Panthers remain inconsistent from week to week. Injuries have played a factor in the team's roller coaster of a season thus far.

Getting Chris Brown back in the lineup will pay off for NPHS.

The loser of this matchup faces an uphill climb just to make the postseason. While T.O. vs. Moorpark gets the hype, this contest may have a larger impact in terms of the playoffs.

Royal (3-3) at Westlake (4-2)

Outlook: Last Friday's 35-12 victory over Newbury Park was big for Westlake. Even bigger, perhaps, was the return of senior quarterback Ben Conlin, who completed 5-of-12 passes for 53 yards and three touchdowns.

Conlin had missed time with a collarbone injury.

In Conlin and sophomore Nick Isham, the Warriors possess two of the better signal-callers in the county.

Another top quarterback is Royal senior Trevor Shubert, who WHS will face in this matchup.

Shubert is completing 63 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns and one interception. If Westlake can keep him in check, the Warriors should handle Royal.
