      November 5, 2004. It's been almost four years— make that four long years— since the Thousand Oaks High football team defeated rival Moorpark. Since that crisp fall evening many moons ago, Moorpark has won by scores of 50-28 in 2005, 38-24 in 2006, and last season's 40-17 Musketeer romp at MHS.

      Westlake defense: The Warriors held Newbury Park's vaunted rushing attack to 54 yards on 20 attempts during a 35-12 home win in Week 6. Ricky Minyard, RB, Thousand Oaks: Minyard, a sophomore, rushed nine times for 107 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns during the Lancers' 49-9 victory at Calabasas. In the game, TOHS ran for 314 yards as a team.

Oaks Christian boys' water polo am still finding success despite this being a 'rebuilding year'

      This season the Oaks Christian boys' water polo team has played well enough to earn a 126 overall record and a 4-1 mark in the Tri-Valley League. The Lions are ranked 10th in the CIF-Southern Section Division IV coaches' poll.

With Joerger on board, TOHS cross country team excelling
Boys ranked second in CIF-SS Division II

      Apparently the housing crunch isn't all gloom and doom. At least that's the way the Thousand Oaks High boys' cross country team sees it. During the summer, the TOHS boys' squad nearly lost one of its finest runners, junior Kevin Joerger, whose dad, Scott, was looking to relocate closer to Los Angeles, where he'd recently started a new job.

Local trainer claims 4 gold medals
      John Platero, a 50-year-old Thousand Oaks resident, recently won four of four gold medals in his first attempt at the Huntsman Senior World Games in St. George, Utah. This year, Platero overcame a back injury, knee surgery and a torn pectoral muscle and lost 10 percent of his body weight to reach a body-fat percentage of only 3.
