Hiking event will start at Borchard Park

Conejo Recreation and Park District and the Outdoor Advisory Council will host the Sycamore to the Sea hike on Sat., Nov. 8.

Check-in will be at Borchard Community Center, 190 Reino Road, Newbury Park. The first shuttle leaves for the trail at 9 a.m.

Volunteer leaders will guide hikers down the canyon, sharing information about local wildlife.

The first mile of the trail is fairly steep and then levels out to an eight-mile slight downhill walk to the beach. Hikers should wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots.

The cost is $20 per person and includes lunch at the beach, a shuttle to the trailhead and transportation from the beach back to Newbury Park.
