$2 million donation will bring music to Plaza's water attraction
      Naming rights for what could become a singular attraction in Thousand Oaks can be purchased for $2 million. With a donation of that size to the Alliance for the Arts, the fountain outside the Kavli Theatre at the Civic Arts Plaza would become a musical fountain, spraying water that seems to dance to show tunes.

School district to add online classes
      Conejo Valley Unified School District is gearing up to offer online classes for eighth- through 12th-graders who want additional credits for college in the summer. The courses will be offered through University of California College Prep and are University of California and California State University approved.

Girls take highest honor
      Seven girls from Girl Scout Troop No. 61001 earned the highest honor for cadettes, the Silver Award. Their project was "Connecting the Generations," which included a program of singing and playing music to folks at Mary Health of the Sick, Senior Concerns and the United Cerebral Palsy House.

Harvest hoedown coming to Ladera Elementary School
      Ladera Elementary School will host a Harvest Hoedown from 5 to 9 p.m. Fri., Oct. 17 at the school, 1211 Calle Almendro, Thousand Oaks. The event will include carni val games, prizes, silent auction and raffle. Cost is $12 at the gate.
