Kinetic sculpture race coming

The 11th annual Kinetic Sculpture Race will be held on Sat., Oct. 25 at the Ventura Harbor.

The race is sponsored by the Ventura Players Club and will include a Poker Run. At the end of each challenge, each entry will receive a playing card. The team with the best poker hand will win $500.

Kondor Queen Karen Taggart will serve as head judge, and Don Kahle will provide color commentary at the race. He will also MC the awards ceremony.

The event will also include a 5K run/walk before the start of the sculpture race. The run is organized by Michele Martinez from N'Step Events.

Both the sculpture race and the run are fundraisers for the Turning Point Foundation. Turning Point is a nonprofit organization serving Ventura County residents with mental illnesses. The foundation provides housing, rehabilitation, recovery and support services.
